The History of Forest Nothing

The original FN (forest nothing) map was made by Roy. You may know him currently as  HHB_Lancia  but  who is also founder and clan leader of the WTF clan (Delta). He came up with the idea of making the FN map long ago and whilst  being  a member of the original HHB he decided  to get it off the ground.  As Holzhacker Buben roughly translates to Bavarian Lumber cutters (or something like that) it seemed that it was the right time to do this It was made originally as a custom scenario map and had fixed positions for each Base. After playing a few times he was asked to make it into a Random map. He did this using the normal forest trees (forest nothing) which were much harder to play with than the now used Jungle trees. In those early days a good cut time was around 2 hours of game time play.  After  a while he made a second Random map and called it forest nothing 2 This was a map that would generate  either Pine or Jungle trees at random. Deciding that jungle was the way forward he constructed the FN3 that was all jungle. Some other variants have been recently made called FN edge gr. This is the same as Jungle map but bases are closer to the middle. There is also an FN lake with a lake in the middle well stocked with fish, so this should be called forest fish in my opinion.

It was hard to get an FN game in the early days but while playing at GamePark a few players took to the map and started playing regular games. It has taken a long time and many hours of trying to persuade players to just have a go at it but it  has now become very popular.  Now at IGZs Forest nothing has a large following of all levels of players. You can find a game or two every night. The game has become very competitive and the 2 hour cut time is now nearly halved depending on the team tactics.

We would like to finish off this history by thanking Roy for creating this map that has become loved by so many players.

All the maps are available to DL from this web site.
